Saturday, October 7 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Rain Date Oct 8)
From the farm to our table, most of what we eat today travels approximately 1,500 miles. That requires a great amount of non-renewable resources, which in turn creates a lot of pollution. Today many people consider what impacts their actions have on the environment in terms of a “carbon footprint.” One easy way to reduce our carbon footprint is to buy locally grown foods.
The Monroe County Conservation District is hosting the 2017 Farm Tour which will connect consumers with local producers.
MCCD is now offering transportation to 13 passengers who call and reserve a seat on the bus. We will meet at MCCD at 8:00am and will be leaving for our 1st farm at approximately 8:30am. Lunches will not be provided so please plan accordingly. Seats are $10 and reservations can be made by contacting Matt Giambra at 570-629-3060 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Don’t wait to reserve your spot. Seats will fill up quickly!
This farm tour will provide participants the opportunity to visit local farms to learn about their available products and farm management.
