Mission Statement The purpose of the Kettle Creek Environmental Fund is to promote and support environmental education in Monroe County by raising funds and donating them to the Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center (KCEEC). The KCEEC is located on the 166-acre Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in Bartonsville and offers first-hand experience with the environment. Programs and resources are available for all age groups from toddlers to adults.
Primary Source of Funds The Kettle Creek Environmental Fund (KCEF) raises funds primarily through an Annual Dinner, held each fall. KCEF Board members solicit donations of raffle items from local businesses and individuals (including golf outings, lawn and garden items, hand crafted gifts, dinner gift cards, overnight stays, and artwork) Raffle tickets are offered at the dinner for a chance to win these prizes. The bulk of the proceeds from the Annual Dinner come from generous sponsors who donate $500 or more. The Dinner was "2013 Voted #1" by "Greatest Around the Poconos" for “Best Charity Event.” For more information on becoming a sponsor, donating a raffle item, or purchasing dinner tickets, please call KCEF at 570-629-3061.
Since 1991... KCEF has donated over $1 million in support of the KCEEC and its programs. Those funds were used to: • Acquire 46 additional acres of adjoining lands to expand programming at the KCEEC. • Purchase snowsuits and boots, raingear, tents, hip waders, assorted computer equipment, binoculars, microscopes, telescopes, cameras, observation beehive, floating dock… • Construct a new sugar shack and purchase a new evaporator and sap finisher at the Meesing Sugarbush. • Support the Annual High School and Junior Envirothons, Conservation Camp, Bug Fest, BioBlitz and Public Programs. • Purchase an alternative fuel vehicle for at-school programming and a 15- passenger wheelchair accessible bus for public field experiences. • Design and construct the Mattioli Outdoor Learning Pavilion at the KCEEC. • Fund 4th grade Tannersville Cranberry Bog field trips along with other grade level school fieldtrips and classroom visits.
